Moon ‘ready to resolve North Korean nuclear issue’

Presidential candidate calls for security, stability and a stronger ROK-U.S. alliance

South Korea’s presidential candidate Moon Jae-in on Monday said he is ready to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue and is confident of strengthening the U.S. alliance under Donald Trump’s presidency.

Speaking at a conference held in Seoul’s National Assembly Library, the presidential candidate added that Pyongyang’s nuclear arms and missiles would not guarantee its safety.

“To build the Republic of Korea anew, we must ensure reliable security,” Moon said during his keynote address. “We can no longer allow the corrupt and the incompetent to run the country. But I, Moon Jae-in am ready.”
