Donald Trump ran a campaign that was virtually devoid of serious policy proposals. His style combined vague aspirations – “Make America Great Again” – played against dark, even apocalyptic, mood music: decay, threats both domestic and foreign, elite corruption and a rigged system.

As a result, any effort to project how his administration will deal with policy issues, let alone anything so focused as the Korean peninsula, is a fool’s errand.

We can review the major things he has said, but it is doubtful that they will be dispositive or will even have any influence on U.S. policy
