The North Korean government published a white paper on Friday, which slammed Ulchi Freedom Guardian (UFG), the annual U.S.-ROK joint training that is to end this Friday.

South Korea’s unification ministry described Pyongyang’s publication of the paper as a “certainly unprecedented” event, possibly aimed at increasing international pressure about the drills on Seoul.

“Regarding UFG, Pyongyang used to issue statements or publish their strong opinions (to slam Washington and Seoul),” Unification Ministry spokesperson Jeong Joon-hee said during a Friday briefing session.
