The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) will contact North Korea over a lack of forewarning provided to surrounding states prior to its recent submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) test off its east coast early on Wednesday.

Both the ICAO and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) confirmed to NK News that they did not receive prior notice to warn adjacent states and ensure the safety of local aircraft and maritime vessels.

“(The) ICAO will shortly be sending a letter to the DPRK reminding the State of its related responsibilities under the Chicago Convention,” Anthony Philbin, Chief of the Communications Office at ICAO, told NK News
