The UN has appointed Tomás Ojea Quintana as the next Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) revealed Friday.
Tomás Ojea Quintana will serve as the third UN special rapporteur on human rights in North Korea, beginning on August 1. He will succeed the current special rapporteur, Marzuki Darusman of Indonesia, who has held the post since August 2010.
