N. Korea implements remote forest fire monitoring system

Poor electricity access in the North will prevent further development, says S. Korean Forest Service

North Korea has announced the results of the implementation of their solar-powered remote monitoring system to prevent and control forest fires.

South Korea’s Forest Service has said that it is their first time to hear of North Korea’s latest forest fire prevention method.

In 2014 and 2015, NASA provided satellite imagery of burning forests in North Korea. The image provided in May 2015 showed that the smoke from North Korean forests had flown all the way to Japan.
