Little hope so far for Park’s N.Korea development plan

Park adds specifics to development-for-denuclearization deal, continues to receive criticism

Speaking from Turkey, the site of the G20 summit, South Korean President Park Geun-hye at the end of last week proposed a $63-billion investment plan for North Korea, contingent on the country’s denuclearization.

The North immediately dismissed the plan and, on Tuesday, a former advisor to Park’s predecessor told NK News that aspects of it weren’t as appealing as she made them sound.

“Should North Korea decide to denuclearize and head forth into the open market system and into cooperation, South Korea plans to gather help from international society and provide $63 billion in investment for North Korea’s infrastructure development
