North Korea on Wednesday announced that it would provide a cash reward to the general public for their loyalty and devotion in advance of the October anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

The announcement, made Wednesday by the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK, was reported Thursday by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

“The decree said a special bonus amounting to 100 percent of monthly salaries and wages will be bestowed on all service personnel, working people and those who receive pensions, subsidies and scholarships,” the KCNA article reads.

This includes virtually all residents other
