News S. Korea touts Eurasia Initiative despite N. Korean obstaclesPyongyang's cooperation on inter-continental project required, as of yet unseen
South Korea continues to stress progress made on a trans-continental project, despite little sign of the support it would need from North Korea to bring it to fruition. On Thursday the South’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) highlighted its Eurasia Initiative at a meeting with foreign journalists in Seoul. President Park Geun-hye announced the Eurasia Initiative, a project aimed at establishing railroad and other connections stretching from the Korean Peninsula through Asia to Europe, in October 2013. The project stagnated thereafter, but Park again mentioned it at the Independence Movement Day ceremony on March 1, and since then © Korea Risk Group. All rights reserved. |
