North Korea yesterday suggested holding separate events for the upcoming June event celebrating the 6.15 Joint Agreement and the 70th anniversary of the end of Japanese colonization.

The DPRK made the suggestion in a letter sent to the South’s preparation committee for the event.

The two countries met last month in Shenyang, China and agreed to organize the event together in Seoul from June 14-16.

South Korean media has been reporting that the event is essentially cancelled, but the Preparation Committee insisted that this has not yet been decided.
