North Korean state media said on Tuesday that a resolution on its human rights situation to be brought before the UN Security Council (UNSC) had been engineered by the U.S. as a pretext for invasion.

The editorial also blamed the UNSC of ignoring recent scandals in the U.S. over torture and police brutality and becoming a “U.S. tool.”

“On Dec. 5 the U.S. and some forces of the UNSC toeing its line sent the president of the Security Council a joint letter calling for officially referring the DPRK ‘human rights issue’ to the Security Council,” the state-run Korean Central News
