Researchers at Stanford University have developed a new model for dealing with North Korea, which they presented a report on to members of the South Korean National Assembly at a September 15 hearing.

“Tailored Engagement: Toward an Effective and Sustainable Inter-Korean Relations” was authored by Stanford professor Gi-Wook Shin, David Straub and Joyce Lee of Stanford’s Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center.

In the paper, the authors focus on the benefits of engaging with North Korea and place South Korea at the forefront of an approach to improve the current situation on the peninsula and the prospects for sustainable peace.
