North Korea on Sunday confirmed participation in the upcoming Asian Games in Incheon, despite the North’s earlier threats of a boycott.
On Friday the North had threatened to review its decision to participate the day after negotiations broke down. The North said that, during the negotiation session Thursday at a border village, the South had objected to the number of athletes Pyongyang suggested sending, as well as the use of large national flags.
Seoul also reportedly considered breaking with its past practice of financially supporting the North’s delegations.
