South Korea on Tuesday sent a notice to North Korea to express sorrow at the loss of lives and injuries from the collapse of a residential building in the North Korean capital last week.

An official at South Korea’s Ministry of Unification told reporters that a notice of consolation was sent to North Korea through the Panmunjeom communication channel, South Korean media reported.

The official added that the notice was sent under the name of South Korea’s Red Cross Chairman to the organization’s North Korean counterparts.
