North Korea still closed to private car travel after bridge opening with Russia

Russian tourism association says travelers will have to rely on organized bus tours set to open by the end of 2026

Private car travel to North Korea will be off limits to Russian and other foreign citizens despite the new road link between the two countries, according to a Russian tourism association, with travelers having to rely on organized bus tours.

The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) outlined the restrictions in a statement to NK News on Friday, just days after Russia and North Korea held a ceremony marking the completion of their first road bridge across the Tumen River.

“North Korea does not accept independent tourists at all, let alone those traveling in their own vehicles,” an ATOR
