Russia’s newly appointed ambassador to North Korea arrived in Pyongyang on Saturday, the diplomatic mission announced on social media, nearly a year after his predecessor died in the DPRK capital.

Ambassador Andrei Podelyshev arrived with his wife aboard a direct Nordwind flight from Moscow, the Embassy and TASS reported, before “immediately” heading to the World War II-era Liberation Monument to honor fallen Soviet soldiers.
