Former ROK soldier fined $374 in bullying case of North Korean descendant

A South Korean court on Wednesday ordered a former ROK soldier to pay a fine of roughly $374 (500,000 won) after being found guilty of insulting a fellow conscript of North Korean descent who later jumped off a building.

The Suwon District Court imposed the fine with a one-year suspended sentence against the defendant surnamed Kwon, a court spokesperson told NK News. The spokesperson was not able to provide further details, as the court’s final ruling was not yet publicly available.
