A South Korean researcher nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize is exploring ways to send corn seeds capable of growing in high-altitude regions to North Korea in hopes to ease food shortages in the country.

Kim Soon-kwon, a researcher who leads the South Korea-based International Corn Foundation, said he hoped to send a resilient strain of corn seeds to North Korea “if inter-Korean exchanges eventually become possible following successful dialogue between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un.”
