South Korea will upgrade its K2 battle tanks with protection systems to counter a variety of threats, the country’s arms procurement agency said Tuesday, as the North continues to upgrade its attack drones and gain valuable experience in the Ukraine conflict.

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) will spend about $2.4 billion (3.4 trillion South Korean won) to equip K2 tanks with active protection systems (APS) capable of intercepting anti-tank missiles and drones, along with jammers and remote weapon stations, according to a news release from the agency.
