President Donald Trump is likely to make another attempt to diplomatically engage North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as he seeks to salvage his legacy after the controversial war with Iran, according to a former National Security Council official Thursday.

Speaking at a panel discussion during the annual Global Korea Forum hosted by the Unification Ministry in Seoul, Georgetown University professor and former National Security Council senior director for European affairs Charles Kupchan described the Iran war as a “debacle” that would prompt Trump to seek a political win elsewhere, specifically North Korea.
