The South Korean military warned that heavy rainfall in North Korea is highly likely to have washed away land mines planted by North Korean troops in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), raising the risk they could drift into South Korean territory.

The ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said recent torrential rain in North Korea appears to have dislodged some of the large number of land mines the North planted in the DMZ, during a regular briefing on Thursday.
