News Seoul launches new team to counter North Korean drone and nuclear threatsCity aims to protect power plants, government buildings and financial institutions from unmanned threats
Seoul has launched a new security organization to protect national facilities and citizens from potential threats posed by North Korea’s nuclear weapons and drone attacks. The city government established the Emergency Planning and Civil Defense Team last week to address the changing nature of warfare, namely threats from nuclear and drone attacks, a team official told NK News on Tuesday. The city plans to work with the South Korean military to establish “a system capable of detecting, identifying and neutralizing drone activity” around key buildings, such as power plants, government facilities and financial institutions, he added.
