The body of a South Korean navy sailor who went missing from a warship was recovered Monday in waters near the maritime border with North Korea, a day after Seoul asked Pyongyang to cooperate in its search efforts.

A South Korean patrol boat spotted the dead sailor at 5:58 a.m. KST, around 52 kilometers (32 miles) east of Geojin, a coastal town in South Korea’s eastern Goseong county, the navy said in a press statement early Monday.
