North Korea’s new ambassador to Austria officially took up his post after presenting his credentials to Austria’s president last week, Pyongyang’s state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Monday.

Ambassador Kyong Hak Min on Wednesday conveyed greetings on behalf of DPRK leader Kim Jong Un to Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, who expressed his gratitude and said he wished for improved relations, according to KCNA.

Few details are available on the ambassador, but diplomatic records show that an official with the same name served as counselor at North Korea’s embassy in Germany from 2009 to the early 2010s.
