Top North Korean officials paid tribute to late Russian Ambassador Alexander Matsegora at the unveiling of a memorial plaque in his honor at the Russian Embassy on Saturday.

Jo Yong Won, who chairs the DPRK Supreme People’s Assembly’s Standing Committee, and Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui attended the ceremony in Pyongyang, according to the Russian Embassy. Matsegora’s son Sergei and daughter Anna attended the event.

The memorial features Matsegora’s portrait and a depiction of the Order of Courage, a Russian award that the ambassador posthumously received. The plaque was created by a North Korean sculptor named Ri Sun Myong,
