South Korea’s resort island of Jeju says it sent $100K in goods to North Korea

Rare shipment of medical equipment, fruit trees through China comes even as Pyongyang rejects inter-Korean ties

South Korea’s southern resort island of Jeju has sent around $100,000 worth of medical equipment, fruit trees and other goods to North Korea via China, the first such shipment in years amid Pyongyang’s renunciation of inter-Korean ties.

The goods worth about $104,568 (160 million won) were delivered via China’s Dalian port in April and arrived at the DPRK’s Nampho Port in May, an official in the relevant Jeju government department told NK News on Monday.

The shipment included medical equipment, forest pesticides and hallabong citrus saplings.
