News North Korean trade with China falls in May after hitting multiyear high$268M in exchange still marks second-highest figure this year as allies bolster ties at Xi-Kim summit
North Korea’s trade with China fell in May after hitting a multiyear high the previous month, official data shows, though both exports and imports remained above last year’s levels. Sino-DPRK trade totaled nearly $268 million last month, according to the new data released by Beijing’s General Administration of Customs (GAC) on Thursday. This is down from $326 million in April, when bilateral exchanges reached the highest level since Nov. 2017. Despite the decline, last month’s total remained significantly higher than the $230 million recorded in May 2025. It also marks the second-highest figure this year, ahead of $240 million, $178 © Korea Risk Group. All rights reserved. |
