Seoul National University (SNU) researchers have developed an artificial intelligence tool to help North Korean defectors navigate South Korean hospitals by reducing language, cultural and social barriers that make it difficult for them to explain their symptoms.

The large language model (LLM)-based system called MediBridge gives users feedback on how to describe their symptoms by voice or text, flagging unfamiliar North Korean terms and prompting them to add details that doctors may need for diagnosis. 

The AI solution provides feedback after users describe their symptoms, indicating what additional information is necessary and pointing out terms that are not commonly used
