North Korea on Monday warned citizens of the dangers of the hantavirus after the fatal outbreak aboard the Dutch-flagged cruise ship in the South Atlantic prompted similar notices from international health organizations.

Hantavirus infections are raising international concern after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued its lowest Level 3 emergency response and activated its emergency operations center, Pyongyang’s party daily Rodong Sinmun reported Monday.

“Many countries are responding vigilantly to the spread of [hantavirus] infection,” the newspaper reported.
