North Korea has registered its largest modern warship with the U.N. maritime watchdog, records show, a move that could be aimed at showcasing the vessel’s readiness for operational deployment.

The DPRK’s No. 51 Choe Hyon destroyer appeared on the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) global shipping database earlier this month, NK News confirmed.

The addition came less than a year after North Korea officially commissioned its largest warship at Nampho on the west coast, with Pyongyang previously stating that it planned to deploy the 5,000-ton destroyer to its East Sea Fleet early this year.
