A South Korean lawmaker has claimed that the country’s military failed to detect a North Korean missile launch earlier this week, faulting Seoul’s real-time tracking capabilities.

Sung Il-jong of the conservative People Power Party (PPP), chair of the National Assembly’s Defense Committee, wrote on social media on Wednesday that it was “deeply regrettable” that “our military was not aware that North Korea had launched a missile [on Tuesday morning] and only learned of it later through U.S. information.”
