Belarus will open an embassy in North Korea by August, according to Minsk, following President Alexander Lukashenko’s order to set up the diplomatic mission.

“The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the DPRK will open by Aug. 1, 2026,” the Belarus government said in a release on Wednesday. 

Prime Minister Alexander Turchin signed the decree, which was adopted by the Council of Ministers and added to the national legal registry the same day. 

The move follows Lukashenko’s order to set up an embassy in Pyongyang last month, after visiting for a summit with leader Kim Jong Un.
