Trump pledged ‘full support’ on resolving North Korea abductee issue, Japan says

Takaichi says after White House meeting that she expressed her ‘strong desire’ to meet Kim Jong Un to discuss the issue

U.S. President Donald Trump voiced “his full support” for resolving Japan’s longstanding abductee issue with North Korea, according to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

Takaichi’s remarks came during a press conference following their summit at the White House on Thursday, where she called for urgent progress on the matter and expressed interest in meeting DPRK leader Kim Jong Un. 

“President Trump gave his full support for the immediate resolution of the abduction issue,” she told reporters.
