A Ukrainian national has been sentenced to five years in prison for helping North Korean IT workers infiltrate dozens of American companies in a scheme that stole the identities of hundreds of people, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Thursday.
The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia sentenced Oleksandr Didenko, 29, after he pleaded guilty in November to charges of wire fraud conspiracy and aggravated identity theft in support of Pyongyang’s illicit revenue generation, the DOJ said in a press release.
