Delegates to North Korea’s Ninth Party Congress began wearing red conference badges for the first time this week, adopting a practice that closely resembles those of Chinese Communist Party gatherings.

Photos and videos released by DPRK state media have shown delegates seated in the assembly hall wearing rectangular red badges clipped below the customary pins of Kim leaders. The badges appear to include each delegate’s profile photo, name and title.
