China’s ambassador to North Korea led a delegation to the massive Wonsan Kalma beach resort over the weekend, expressing hope that Chinese tourists will be able to visit the zone that remains closed to most foreign travelers.

Wang Yajun led Chinese Embassy diplomats and their family members on the visit to the east coast mega-resort on Saturday, according to state media reports from the two countries.

The visit reportedly took place at the invitation of North Korea’s Foreign Ministry and included tours of several facilities, such as an electronic entertainment hall, an indoor water park and the beach.
