A violent new North Korean film about a plot to kill the country’s leader aired on state TV for the first time this week, featuring Hollywood-style storytelling and racy content in a propaganda push aimed at appealing to young people.

“Days and Nights of Confrontation” premiered in DPRK theaters last year and reportedly won three awards at the Pyongyang International Film Festival, but it did not make its debut on Korean Central Television (KCTV) until Saturday.

The film was produced by the Korean April 25 Film Studio and is a sequel to 2022’s “One Day and One Night
