The operator of a South Korean cryptocurrency exchange has been sentenced to four years in prison for helping a North Korean spy obtain ROK military secrets in return for around $600,000 in digital assets.

A Supreme Court spokesperson told NK News on Monday that the court in November upheld a lower court’s ruling sentencing a man surnamed Lee to four years in prison after being convicted of violating South Korea’s National Security Act.

The entrepreneur will also be prohibited from serving in public office for four years after completing his prison sentence.
