China has told South Korea that its stance on North Korea issues “remains unchanged,” despite Beijing’s omission of the goal of denuclearization in recent statements, Seoul’s foreign minister said on Friday.

At a press conference, Cho Hyun was asked about the gap between South Korean and Chinese readouts regarding North Korea following his talks with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing on Wednesday. 

Seoul’s foreign ministry said Beijing had pledged to play a constructive role in promoting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, while reaffirming South Korea’s determination to seek “substantive progress” on denuclearization through dialogue and cooperation.
