Canada will deploy a patrol aircraft to Japan this month to monitor North Korea’s illicit maritime activities aimed at circumventing U.N. sanctions, Tokyo’s foreign ministry announced on Wednesday.

The Royal Canadian Air Force will deploy a CP-140 long-range patrol aircraft from mid-September to mid-October to monitor illicit maritime activities, including ship-to-ship transfers involving North Korean-flagged vessels banned under U.N.
