The U.S. State Department has sharply scaled back its annual human rights report on North Korea, the first since President Donald Trump returned to office, reducing its length by half while still detailing widespread abuses.

In the 2024 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, published on Tuesday, the State Department said the DPRK continues to maintain control over its population through brutal and coercive measures, such as “executions, physical abuse, enforced disappearances, collective punishment.”
