News North Korea begins dismantling border loudspeakers, days after the SouthSeoul welcomes apparently reciprocal move, though ROK military says full extent of work remains unclear
North Korea has begun dismantling some of its propaganda loudspeakers near the inter-Korean border, according to Seoul, days after South Korea’s recent removal of its own loudspeakers used in psychological warfare. “On the morning of Saturday, Aug. 9, signs were detected that North Korea had started dismantling loudspeakers in some forward areas,” Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) spokesperson Col. Lee Sung-jun said during a press briefing on Monday. Lee emphasized that it remains unclear whether this dismantling is taking place across all border regions, explaining that the DPRK has consistently engaged in maintenance and adjustments to its loudspeaker systems in © Korea Risk Group.
