Innovative North Korean brewery becomes latest to eye Russian beer market

Kyonghung, known for unique packaging and canned brews, will supply light beer to Russian importer in Vladivostok

One of North Korea’s most innovative breweries is looking to make its mark in the Russian beer sector, official documents show, the latest sign of deepening commercial ties between Pyongyang and Moscow.

Mangyongdae Kyonghung Food Factory will supply 4.5% “light pasteurized filtered carbonated beer” to the Kupol company based in Artem, a suburb of Vladivostok, according to Kupol’s import declaration filed with Russia’s Federal Service for Accreditation (FSA) this week.
