The U.S. imposed sanctions on Tuesday on North Korean and Russian individuals and entities facilitating information technology (IT) worker operations funding the regime’s nuclear and missile programs, the first time Washington has designated DPRK targets since Donald Trump became president. 

The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced in a press release that it was taking action against Song Kum Hyok, a cybercriminal linked to the U.S.-designated threat group Andariel, for helping North Korean remote IT workers secure jobs at American companies.
