Russia’s aviation authority has greenlighted a private airline to launch direct flights between Moscow and Pyongyang, with the first flight scheduled for late July, a development that could revive the commercial service for the first time in years.

Moscow-based Nordwind Airlines received clearance from Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) to operate flights between the two capitals twice a week, according to Rosaviatsiya’s commission on Tuesday.
