North Korea jams GPS signals near maritime border, leading ROK to warn ships

Seoul’s science ministry confirms disruptions in Yellow Sea earlier this week due to jamming signals traced to DPRK

North Korea jammed GPS signals near the inter-Korean maritime border earlier this week, leading ROK authorities to issue a warning to civilian vessels.

The jamming took place just hours before the DPRK reportedly stopped its transmission of signals aimed at interfering with South Korean propaganda radio in response to Seoul’s suspension of the broadcasts.

A ROK science ministry spokesperson told NK News that the GPS jamming took place on Tuesday near the country’s Baengnyeong Island in the Yellow Sea.
