North Korea and Chinese border cities issued flood warnings this week as rising monsoon rains pushed water levels to dangerous levels along the Yalu River, prompting evacuations in China’s northeast and calls from Pyongyang to take preventive action.

The heavy rains come amid fears of a repeat of the deadly floods North Korea experienced last summer.
