North Korea has accused the U.S. of raising the risk of “thermonuclear war” through its military activities on the Korean Peninsula, reiterating Pyongyang’s refusal to abandon its nuclear weapons at a U.N. forum on Tuesday.

The DPRK’s statement at a Conference on Disarmament meeting in Geneva came in response to calls by the EU for North Korea to comply with international nuclear armament programs and cease development of weapons of mass destruction.

Pyongyang’s latest insistence that it will never give up its nuclear weapons notably followed the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday, suggesting a DPRK effort to
