North Korea launched some 40 balloons filled with trash across the border from Thursday night, according to the South Korean military, days after the leader’s sister denounced another round of alleged anti-regime leafleting.
Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said around 30 of the balloons landed in the capital area, including Gyeonggi Province, which surrounds Seoul.
