UNICEF and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have received new sanctions exemptions to send health care and agricultural equipment to North Korea, U.N. records show.

The U.N. Security Council’s 1718 Sanctions Committee has granted UNICEF an exemption until Sept. 23, 2025 to send medical equipment and vehicles valued at some $1.6 million. 

The projected shipment includes 10 refrigerated and non-refrigerated trucks that will support the transportation of vaccines to provincial medical warehouses, strengthen the cold chain system and support vaccine management.
